a work of staggering genius...

i made this centerpiece for a going away party i had for a friend last night. just look at the beauty of that thing! and imagine the cheapness. i think the total was around $7 and we can use that fruit after the party.

Transient

really, is there a pullitzer prize for party throwing? will me nobel peace prize for napping disqualify me from a pullitzer? i need to check their website...

after i made this flower/fruit arrangement that will go down in the annuals of history, i called my children into the kitchen to observe and awe over my brilliance and their reactions did not disappoint...

millie: i CANNOT wait for my wedding. with you in charge (good girl, i have already trained her well), it will be THE BOMB!

rosalea: fire is hot, and so is my mommy! (another excellent example of my training in work- i am almost 40 and WAY overweight and she thinks i am hot)

maxx: don’t cha wish your mommy was creative like mine? (singing in homage to the pussycat dolls song and MY genius, an apt pairing indeed)

aah, i know that Jesus said that a prophet would never be honored in his own country, but i am glad that works of staggering genius are given respect and admiration in my home.

there are times when i feel like i have done right by these children (few and far between). but the fact that millie knows I am in charge of her wedding, rosie thinks i am hot, and maxx changed the lyrics of a pussycat doll song, AND the fact that they all LOVED the flower arrangement does speak well of my parenting (doesn’t it).

i mean some people strive for godliness and contentment in their children, obedience and orderliness, discipline and dignity, and all of these are goals of mine. but for a moment in time, i felt like a really GREAT parent as my children gathered around me in the kitchen and praised my achievement...

proverbs 31:28  her children arise and call her blessed...

(i think the message version might be “her children gather in the kitchen and call her in charge of their wedding, hot, and sing praises to her creativity” but i haven’t checked the message translation yet...)
