it was a wild adventure...

actually it was pretty calm. i had only two of the bestest behaved boys ever to keep up with all day.

these two bestest behaved boys...

maxx wanted to ride EVERY ride, and gabriel (the other bestest behaved boy) wanted NOT to ride anything really scary. so gabriel and i watched maxx ride a wild ride and then we would find one they could both do. maxx seemed to have just as much fun riding a ride all by himself with gabriel and i watching. after lunch we joined another group (with gabriel’s twin sister in it and i didn’t even know they were related until halfway through the afternoon). so maxx had someone to ride and scream with and gabriel had his sister to sit and watch and laugh at the ones on the ride screaming.

btw, gabriel’s twin sister is a foot taller than he is and doesn’t look ANYthing like him, so i am not a total moron. their dad is a physicist. and when gabriel told me that, i thought he said “pharmacist” and i asked which drug store he worked in... ok, so i am a total moron...

here is how maxx looked when he was screaming on a ride (notice NO gabriel on this ride)...

and here is my favorite teacher EVER from the kids elementary school. millie had her as a teacher and she not only is the most wonderful, caring, and fun teacher BUT she sings jazz and gospel music and millie wants her to sing in her wedding. i asked her if she and i could sing together one day in heaven and she agreed and we are planning our heavenly concert duet debut all the time.

last year she was at our house for an event and she sat at the piano and maxx played hymns and she sang them as he played and it is one of those moments where i sat there and kept saying “remember how wonderful this feels”...

well, this is her, not singing, but driving the bumper cars with her students all ganging up to bump her...

and here is maxx with the two twin boys (see i know some kids are twins) whose mom had cancer and went home to be with the Lord earlier this year. they are doing great, dad was on the field trip and he is an amazing man...

and last but not least, my friend, shems, and i got to hang out most of the day and i never get to hang out with shems. she is great and can quote lots of Scripture at the perfect moments. my favorite was when her daughter wanted to go on to the next ride and we were waiting for maxx and gabriel to finish up on a ride and shems looks at her daughter and whispers “die to self”. i told shems that i needed her to follow me around all day and keep whispering “die to self” to me too...

anyway, the day was so chock-full-o-fun that we got home at around 8 last night, i took one look at the empty lunch boxes waiting to be filled on my counter and i thought about that alarm clock going off this morning and me having to make breakfast and fill those lunch boxes and wake everyone up and i declared it an unofficial marshall holiday today.

so in celebration of the marshall islands (which i can’t find on a map) and the sheer brilliance of the marshall plan (which came after some world war) all marshalls were excused from school (or filling lunch boxes) today and we all slept in. most marshalls are up now. adam is still sleeping but he arrived home from milwaukee after midnight last night.

we are planning to celebrate adam’s birthday (which was on tuesday, the day he left for milwaukee) and we will go and see prince caspian at an early (cheaper) showing!

happy marshall day everyone!
