i totally forgot to mention that my daughter (and her friend, lucy) won the regional science fair! they won first prize OVERALL! and they won $$$. why didn’t anyone tell me that you could win $$$ for science fair?!?!?!? i would have been donating cuter scrapbook paper for the kids to use, not my leftovers...
their project was really a good one (i wish it had been my idea). participants took a reaction test online. and then took the same test again while talking on a cell phone and answering some basic questions posed to them from millie on another cell phone. the two times were compared to see what the difference was in the reaction time (about .10 of a second slower on average while chatting on the cell phone). women had a larger gap in reaction time than men. hmmm....
so millie does NOT like it when i talk on my cell phone while i am driving. she keeps reminding me of the data collected.
really, science fair does not need to pertain to ME....

and in the “also competing” category... maxx and his friend wil. they did a cell phone project too. determining which cell phone company has the best reception in places where middle schoolers go...
so if you are a middle schooler who hangs out at raa, the cross country track, the mall, the movie theater, the fsu stadium, maxx’s house, or wil’s house... you might want to switch to verizon...
and don’t talk on it while driving....
notice that maxx is coordinated with the project. millie picked out his outfit. it didn’t help them at all. no prizes for them, but it was their first year... there is also next time. and some nicer leftover scrapbook paper since now i am all about the science fair because of those cash prizes!
