since my Bible study group meets today at my house for the first time this year, everything has to be in shipshape and bristol fashion (which is actually a toponym that i had heard before and even use frequently. now where in the world did i learn that term?) anyway, i also have my parenting class to teach tonight and want to be totally prepared for that....
so i am holding out on post #14 and just posting some photos of myself and my two college roommates circa that late 80’s. this ought to be almost as much fun as an actual post AND a lot less work for me today.
none of us were homecoming queen, BUT we did pick out the crown every year and were in charge of keeping it until the football game, so we liked to try it on and pretend that we had won. dina was really good at pretending... i think i sent my photo home to my parents and tricked them into thinking i was homecoming queen....
before the sarah palin glasses, there were the dina pitts glasses..... look at how thrilled she is with that new wallet. if only she knew that there wasn’t any cash in it.
and before there was project runway there was robyn and lea’s sewing shop (which should have been named project RUN AWAY). robyn made those shorts and lea’s shorts with each panel a different pastel tone... yes, i made those myself.... i know that i was a fashion visionary.
and did i mention how robyn had the BEST clothes. i mean look at that outfit. feel the fashion forwardness. feel the silver booties on your feet. i would have killed for that outfit, now millie would kill me if i wore something like that out in public.
i sewed that silver shirt that i am wearing myself. and man, that metallic fabric was hard to sew, and if i recall didn’t breathe too well. this is robyn, me, leslie, and dina when we decided to perform for a lip sync contest in greenville. we performed a rousing rendition of “what have you done for me lately” by janet jackson. we didn’t win. to this day, i can’t figure out why, i think the contest had to be rigged....
and some more formal of our moments. i loved me some curls in my hair.... i had the most stick straight hair and dina and robyn had this beautiful full curly hair. and i was the blonde in the group, so they always made me stand in the middle of the photos. kind of like an oreo....
one of our favorite things to do was to tape our noses with scotch tape and then take photos of ourselves. notice dina’s and my curly bangs. mine from a curling iron, hers natural. also note my sweat shirt with the pink ribbon, i added that ribbon and bow myself with stitch witchery.
another favorite pastime was photographing ourselves. and we loved props like sunglasses, scarves, flowers, leaves, personal items, etc.... here are a few photos from a fall day’s photo session....
ok, i am off to plan for my parenting class, enough time on memory lane for today...
