so yesterday was millie's first day at leon high school. she had a GREAT day. she LOVED the whole day and the friendliness of the whole staff and all the students. since i went to a small private school (k-12) and a small college, i had NO idea what school spirit really meant...
until yesterday...
first of all, millie started off her day by wearing her grandmother's (my mom's) leon high school class of 1953 ring. i bet that she is the only freshman with a class ring and it is such a beautiful reminder of those who have walked those halls before her. my parents went to leon and i have LOTS of cousins and aunts and uncles who went there also.
in fact my cousins, ley ann pichard laface and elise pichard smith seemed especially OVER the top excited that millie was starting her freshman year at leon. we were all at our beach house this weekend and they kept going on and on about how THRILLED they were that she would be a leon lion.
and then RIGHT before millie arrived home monday afternoon, ley ann came over with a small "welcome to leon" gift. seems that it is a tradition in the pichard family to welcome home new baby freshman lions by placing a tiny item on their bed for when they arrived home from their first day at leon. she had specially ordered this miniscule little giftie for millie.
and so ley ann placed the small little token of school spirit on millie's bed. where it will remain for the next 4 years watching over her. and stealing the covers....
i will say that millie’s foray into high school was a ROARING success.
