proverbs 21:31 (the message)
Do your best, prepare for the worst—
then trust God to bring victory.
(niv version) The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
but victory rests with the LORD.
that should be our theme verse for choir tour every year....
and that is my theme today (do my best but know that the results are up to God) as i am writing devotionals for the choir booklet (the kids do a devotional everyday during their quiet time).
i love the personal responsibility AND the sovereignty of God that is expressed in this verse. do what you need to do. be wise. work it. and know that God is ultimately the authority on victory. and how a victory looks. and when it comes or doesn’t come.
good to remember as i try to WRITE EVERYTHING i want these teenagers to know about FAITH AND LOVE AND GRACE into short devotionals (oh, who am i kidding, you know they won’t be short)...
the theme this year for choir tour is DENY YOURSELF.
Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
This Greek word “deny” that is used in this verse actually has this meaning…
“Deny- to forget one's self, lose sight of one's self and one's own interests”
so we are telling the kids to FORGET THEMSELVES for this week of ministry. we will be in chicago at a food bank, a homeless shelter, and a rehabilitation center serving and loving and leading worship services.
we are preparing for the day of battle (any day with 42 teenagers is kind of a day of battle). so my writing today is going to be spent on those devotionals. and i will post them when i have them done (AFTER the choir tour because i KNOW sarah grace and matt would cheat and go on and read them early...)
and i will be blogging on choir tour. NOT at this website.... but when i have the other one set up, then i will let you know.
so check in after this every day in may. which was just a warm up for EVERY day on choir tour when i am getting NO sleep. that ought to be some kind of interesting...
