aah, a nice quiet saturday night was had by all at the marshall house...
we all went to bed fairly early because we did not turn the t.v. on because i had just read this little factoid in this great book amusing ourselves to death... (i know... i read a lot)
if we all spend the AVERAGE amount of time watching television (4 hours a day for americans) then when we are 65 years old, it will be the equivalent of 12 YEARS of our lives spent watching television.
12 years of total TV watching... that is truly sickening.
we don’t watch THAT much television, but we do love our t.v. a bit too much here at the marshall abode. the kids did some quick calculating and came up with that they watch about an hour a day (they don’t watch on weekdays, but make up for it on weekends sometimes) and so that was only 4 years of their lives watching t.v. once they hit 65 (which is still a lot of wasted time).
after we figured that out, it seemed that no one wanted to turn on the television.
so we all read books and went to bed early. it was awesome...
ok, i have to go tally points on 14or40. i am not looking forward to tallying 3 months of scores, but i have been lazy about doing it every month. in case you don’t know about 14or40, it is a photo blog where everyday jordan (dina’s 14 year old daughter) and i post a photo and you have to guess if jordan (the 14 year old) or i (the 40 year old) took the photo. it is always fun to see the photos and to see who guesses correctly.
we are running a little contest to see who can guess the most AND get the most correct answers. the contest is almost over, but i bet that we might do another one after this one, so get in on the action in case you have been missing out!
also check out my friend debbie’s blog... cheaper by the baker’s dozen. she has 11 children (plus she and hubby makes a baker’s dozen, isn’t she clever?). she give a lot of great parenting advice in her blog and she is SO WISE that i even take advice from her (and mess it up every time, but that is not her fault at all). she is also doing a blog a day in may because she likes things that rhyme and she aspires to be ME!!!! yes, we all know that is true....
