gazing into the flames

this was the song that we sang at church yesterday. it is a great one for starting your monday morning also.

we hadn’t sung this song in a long time and i had forgotten the lyrics until they appeared up on the screen...

here it is on youtube in case you want to hear it while you are reading the lyrics if you say go by vineyard music

If You say go, we will go
If You say wait, we will wait
If You say step out on the water
And they say it can't be done
We'll fix our eyes on You and we will come

Your ways are higher than our ways
And the plans that You have laid
Are good and true
If You call us to the fire
You will not withdraw Your hand
We'll gaze into the flames and look for You

God has called me to gaze into the flames for a season. but know these things for certain...

His ways are higher than mine.

His plans are for good and true.

He has called me to the fire

but He has not withdrawn His Hand. and He will not take His Hand away from me.

and if i look for Him, He will be found

so that is what i am doing... gazing into the flames and looking for Him.

last week i heard from a high school friend, the VALEDICTORIAN (a word which i could not even spell correctly after three tries so you know i wasn’t giving her a run for her money back in the day) of my class, who occasionally reads this blog (most likely just to reassure herself that i am not catching up to her mental prowess and i bet she is comforted EVERY time she checks the blog that she is still the reigning brain trust of the class of ’85). she sent me a sweet letter about how much she enjoys our christmas card and the blog. she didn’t even mention my atrocious (another word i couldn’t spell without help) grammar and punctuation skillz (okay, i meant to misspell that one. i can’t spell but i am street wise). that made my day. and i know that it wasn’t just a sweet thought from her. it was a way that God was telling me to keep stepping out on the water. keep gazing into the flames. He will be there.
