i LOVE my wednesday Bible study gals. they are all a good decade (or two... or three) older than me. they are all so wise and they are so good to share their wisdom with me. their advice for surviving mothering through these teenage years. their sympathy with how tough these years are. and their promises that this too shall pass.
but i am not much help to them usually. UNTIL this wednesday....
one of my favorite gals asked me if she could have a little chat with me. she needed my advice on something. and i thought that FINALLY they had begun to see that i too had some wisdom to offer. some spiritual depth. some anointing from the Lord. i was praying that the Holy Spirit would speak through me. that i would be a good listener. that i would have something of value to tell her. suffice it to say that i was poised and ready for her super spiritual question. to bring forth my myriad of memorized various and sundry Scriptures for every occasion. and i assumed the posture of one who is wise and ready to advise....

so much for my wisdom and insight. and that is the best reason that i know of to attend a Bible study with older women. they will keep you humble. and realizing that you really don’t have all of the answers. or any of them. but sometimes you might be able to turn on the dvd player. that might be all you have to give...
