5 things you don't know about me...

or maybe you do...

tracy tagged me into this little game. and i LOVE tracy... so here we go with 5 things you may not know about me (which is really hard because i think i have put ALMOST EVERYTHING about me here on this blog in the last 6 years. i am an consummate oversharer. which is about to get really even more obvious)...

1) when i was studying shakespeare in london, i was asked to help out in a jack the ripper documentary. and by "help out" i mean the guy directing the jack the ripper documentary came to the students studying with the royal shakespeare company to pick out some actors and NO ONE really associated with the royal shakespeare company would demean themselves and do this plebeian documentary... but i wasn't really a true british shakespearean snob. only an american shakespearean snob. so i appeared for a brief 25 seconds as prostitute #2 in a jack the ripper documentary for the bbc. you might remember me looking very cheap and tawdry. and then looking very dead and disemboweled. thank you very much. i will be signing autographs later this month...

2) my son sleeps in the bed that tony hale (buster of arrested development fame) grew up sleeping in through his youth. i was best friends with tony's older brother, mike growing up in tallahassee. and the hale's LOVED me. i really was friends with the entire family. but mike and i were the same age. and went to furman together. the hale's moved and asked us if we needed a set of twin beds. tony's bedroom furniture. we said "yes" because we were young and had no furniture. and we still have those beds in maxx's room. we keep waiting for tony to get super famous so we can auction them on ebay. tony visits us once a year because either a) he loves us or b) he misses his old beds.

3) i went to college thinking i would go to med school and one day be a pediatrician. it took one college chemistry class to change my mind.

4) my first car was a 1979 green malibu classic. i named her gladys. she didn't need a key to crank her up. thus everyone but me used to take her off campus to lunch if i wasn't the first one out to the parking lot. she only got AM radio ensuring my future brilliance as i was the only teenager listening to NPR... she was most likely as long as my suburban and i am pretty sure i couldn't park her very well either. but we had some good times...

5. if i had to say the book that CHANGED my life the MOST (besides the Bible) it would be mrs. piggle wiggle. in it she does things to make the most menial of chores more fun. like pretending you are a princess disguised as a servant girl who has to keep up the ruse that you are a servant girl or the wicked queen will know you are the one true heir to the throne and you pretend you must make the bed SO well that you don't tip off the queen to the fact that you are not a trained servant girl BUT are in fact a princess. i still use that technique when making my bed sometimes. or washing dishes. but inspired by mrs. piggle wiggle i have a tip that makes cooking dinner SO much more fun. i pretend i am on top chef and that i have a time limit to get dinner ready. i set the timer and then i talk out loud (this is when i am preparing dinner and no one is home) telling the "audience" what i am making for dinner and why i am doing each step. if i am running behind on my schedule, i act all stressed and start blaming the "other chefs". it's never my fault...

so there are 5 things that you may not have known about me. and 5 things you may wish you didn't know about me...
