i do not think for a moment that my committing 1 corinthians 13 to memory was not ordained for me by God to instruct me during a crisis that we ran into last night at home....
in the middle of my frantic emotional search for what i needed to do, what i needed to believe, how i needed to proceed... these verses from 1 corinthians 13 came to me...
verse 7 “it (love) always protects, always trusts”...
i looked it up in the kjv and the words there are “beareth all things, believeth all things”...
and then from the greek meanings of those words...
beareth- stego

1a) to protect or keep by covering, to preserve
2) to cover over with silence
2a) to keep secret
2b) to hide, conceal
2b1) of the errors and faults of others
3)by covering to keep off something which threatens, to bear up against, hold out against, and so endure, bear, forbear
the root is from the word that means the roof of a house.
believeth: pisteuo
1) to think to be true, to be persuaded of, to credit, place confidence in
1a) to credit, have confidence
1b1) used in the NT of the conviction and trust to which a man is impelled by a certain inner and higher prerogative and law of soul
1b2) to trust in Jesus or God as able to aid either in obtaining or in doing something: saving faith
1bc) mere acknowledgment of some fact or event: intellectual faith
2) to entrust a thing to one, i.e. his fidelity
it is amazing how knowing that one line of Scripture changed my heart in a moment and gave me a totally clear direction to go in, one that brought peace and a good night’s sleep...
protect and trust. put a sturdy roof of protection over our house, do what we can do as parents to protect and then trust. trust God to do His work and trust that He alone knows the heart and He will aid in doing whatever needs to be done, trust in a child who has proven time and time again in the past to be trustworthy. to extend credit to them...
love always protects and always trusts...
